Have you recently been engaged and wondering what to do next? This is the best time to start thinking about your special day.
The first thing to do is set a date, put together a wedding list and agree on a budget with your family as this will determine the scale of the wedding. Next, book the church or registrar office, wedding cars, photographer and video company. Remember, you will like to share your memorable moment with loved ones, so the next thing to do is compile your wedding guest list, consulting both families. This is also the time to choose the best man, lady of honour, bridesmaids, page boys and ushers. Also book the reception venue (and arrange entertainment for the reception) including caterers. After the wedding comes the honeymoon. This should be booked as soon as possible to avoid any disappointments. There is no perfect wedding without the perfect wedding dress including bridal veil, bridesmaids' dresses, flower girl dresses and accessories. This should be made to suit your taste, requirements and budget. Also arrange the hire of any formal wear for the groom, best man, ushers and the fathers.
Now it is time to take care of the specifics - Meet and confirm arrangements with the minister. Discuss the service, any readings and your choice of music or book the registrar office if appropriate. Order your wedding stationery such as invitations, order of service, place cards, etc. Then organise and book your wedding flowers; choose and order your wedding rings and order your wedding cake.
Next, confirm and finalise arrangements and put in the finishing touches: Confirm wedding music with minister; finalise your honeymoon plans and check for any visas or vaccinations that may be necessary; book your wedding night hotel and shop for your honeymoon & going away clothes.
Then it is time to send out wedding invitations. Do ensure guests have details of local accommodation. Any late invitation replies should be chased up so that the guest list, seating plans and place cards can be finalised.
A few weeks before the wedding, the bride should visit the hairdresser to discuss what style is required and to book a final appointment. Stag and hen nights should also be arranged. A week or a few days to the wedding, the rehearsal for the wedding ceremony should take place. All wedding outfits and accessories should also be tried on to confirm that they still fit. A final practice of hair and make up for the bride should also be done.
After putting so much time, effort and planning into organising your special day, you can be rest assured that the day will go well, so just relax and enjoy your big day. Remember, most weddings take place only once in a life time.
